How To Clean Glass… Here’s Some Of Our Strategies
The first thing that comes to the mind of many people when you talk about “cleaning glass” is streaks. Ugly, glaring, light reflecting streaks. “How do you clean glass?” is one of the main questions we get asked here in our Rapid City mobile auto detailing business. Most people try to avoid cleaning their glass altogether and maybe save it for the car wash or let their detailer take care of it. Just in case you don’t have a detailer…or you don’t wash your car regularly we’ve put together a few helpful tips on how to clean your car glass.
1. Use a dedicated car glass cleaner. A lot of people try to get away with using some old windex or a household glass cleaner and while those are great at cleaning household glass, they aren’t great at cleaning car glass. Instead, pick up some quality car glass cleaner at your local Walmart or Autozone (you can even get it on Amazon).
2. Use quality microfiber towels to clean your car glass. We prefer ‘waffle weave’ microfiber towels which is a specific type of microfiber. It does the best job at picking up dirt while leaving a streak-free finish. However, any microfiber towel is better than none and having a good towel can really make or break the experience.
These two factors things ALONE will change your glass cleaning experience without a detailer! Sounds weird for a detailer to say right? Well…that’s because I hate cleaning glass just as much as you do and if I can make it easier for you, then I consider that a win! The truth is, there’s no better way to protect your car paint (and glass) for the long term than with a ceramic coating, but more on that in the next blog!
