How To Clean Your Steering Wheel

What is something that you're constantly touching in your car every time you drive it? Your steering wheel! So why do people neglect cleaning them and wait months or even years to maybe wipe it down? The truth is that oils from your skin build up on your steering wheel and break down the leather or plastic eventually. So how do you go about cleaning it? Well…I like to break it up into 4 simple steps.

Step 1. Wipe down the actual wheel (the part you touch) with a microfiber towel and APC (all purpose cleaner).

Step 2. Clean the horn area with a detail brush and APC. Make sure you get into all the cracks between buttons.

Step 3. Rinse with a damp towel, then wipe it down with a dry towel and let it air dry the rest of the way

Step 4. Finally, protect all surfaces of the steering wheel using a dedicated interior protectant (ie. interior dressing, ceramic coating).

And you're done! Regularly maintaining your steering wheel will not only make it a better, cleaner surface to touch, but also, it will long term protect your steering wheel from fading, cracking, or ripping.
